We’re Jamie Hamilton and Greer Nelson, founders and principal designers behind Oliver Simon Design. Since opening our doors in 2011, our firm has become a favourite amongst those who appreciate effortless style and function—including top interior design magazines like HGTV, House & Home, and Western Living.

Here’s how we’ll make it happen.

Call

Send us an email or fill out our contact form and we'll schedule a 15-minute phone call with you. During that call, we’ll collect key information and schedule a time for your in-home design consultation.

Consult

A design consultation meeting allows us to make sure the project is a good fit on both sides. We’ll cover the scope of your project, your style, budget, timeline, and more. And, we’ll make a few design suggestions.

Proposal

By now, we know enough about you, your home, and the work to put together a proposal that includes a design fee estimate and project scope. Then, as long as you approve, we’ll move forward.

Concept

To conceptualize your design, we take measurements, sketch ideas, inventory your furnishings, and develop the overall look, style, and feel of your home. Then, we host you at our office for a design presentation.

Design

We’ll develop a design plan and detailed description that includes specifications of all aspects of the project, and you’ll have the chance to review, request changes, and approve. Throughout the process, your input is welcomed and encouraged.

Install

Once the decisions are final, we implement your design. We manage the project and construction, hire tradespeople, order and purchase on your behalf, perform regular site visits, and make sure your home is completed to our standards.

Questions future clients ask

Your complimentary phone call is only 15 minutes long and allows us to meet, ensure that we can meet your project needs, and schedule an in-home consultation.
Your on-site consultation is much more in-depth. It’s an opportunity for us to learn about each other and determine if the project feels like a fit for both sides. And, it’s a good time to ask any questions you have.
During your consultation, we will:
Explore your sense of style and project requirements.
Gain an understanding of the architectural bones of your home, so we can explore its potential.
Provide you with some initial recommendations or suggestions for your project.
Allow for a discussion about the design process and any other services Oliver Simon Design might provide.
Begin to develop a preliminary design plan.
The call is also complimentary, whereas the consultation is valued at $250. (Site visits outside of the city are $300 and up depending on location.)
We do not. For us, the joy is in seeing a project through to the end. If we stopped before a home was furnished and styled, we’d feel like we were leaving it undone.
Design fees are billed on an hourly basis as every project is unique. Book a consultation to get a custom design fee estimate.

We have worked very hard to develop excellent relationships with a number of exclusive suppliers and trades. We are continually sourcing new lines and products to provide our clients with all of the unique elements that customize each project for years of functionality and enjoyment.
Yes, we are happy to travel for projects outside of the Greater Vancouver Area.
Ideally, our collaboration begins in the first planning stages. So it’s best if we are on board from the very beginning.

We assume the position of Purchasing Agent on all furnishings and accessories sourced by Oliver Simon Design. We find this is the best way to complete projects seamlessly—and with expertise.
